"Thursday is a core strength and flexibility day.
If DI Christine is taking it this means yoga, with DI Simon it means Boot Camp for the abs!
I hear a lot of people say they are not flexible enough to go to yoga but for me that’s one of the reasons to go, to become more flexible.
Also people think it’s not going to benefit them because they don’t build up a sweat and may not feel like they are working hard. However I have to dispute that because some weeks it is really hard just in a different way.
Sometimes moving slowly is actually more difficult than rushing through trying to get as many reps in as possible. Some of the positions help to build strength and some help with balance while others will give you a really good stretch.
For me I find that it’s a really good balance to the other training I do and it’s a point in the week where I can slow down and focus on myself for an hour and clear my mind of other things happening.
Also at what other fitMK session do you have a few minutes at the end to lay down under a blanket and totally relax and switch off from the world.
My husband comes with me to this one and we often have a discussion in the car on the way over about what the focus will be. Last week I guessed shoulders and was right, this week I’m thinking it may be hips.
Well the snow has scuppered my plans, after going out and looking at the roads we decided that we didn’t want to drive over to Newport Pagnell. I thought about boot camp but I know that my legs could not cope with boot camp two days running, so it’s a night in which feels a little strange!"
